The north west of Turkey is bordering Greece and Bulgaria and to the north the Black Sea, to the east Georgia, Armenia and Iran. South east bordering Iraq and Syria and to the south the Mediterranean Sea and west the Aegean Sea.
The Anatolian peninsula consists of a high central plateau in between the East-Black Sea mountain range to the north and the Taurus Mountains to the south. To the east a more mountainous landscape, home to the sources of the rivers Euphrates and Tigris and the well known Mount Ararat, Turkey's highest point at 5.166 m a.s.l.
