Gorge walks. Crete's geological forces has created a great amount of gorges and ravines. Very few are known besides the Samaria Gorge, but there are about 50 gorges in and around the White Mountains. The most impressive ones cut deep in the mountains and end up in the Libyan sea.
The less well known gorges have far fewer visitors, if any at all and makes the experience far more intensive.
The Gorge of Prassano is one of the kind but does not end up in the Libyan Sea. The Prassano Gorge is located on the northern coast, close to Rethymno. Its beauty is unique and it has very few visitors.
You will find that every gorge has its own character and it is not a matter of done one, done them all.
The passage of one of these gorges just makes you wish to cross another.
I have walked more gorges, but until now you have to enjoy the inspiration from my walks in Samaria and Prassano Gorges.
A few more are listed in next row:

The Gorge of Anidri is a small and very beautiful ravine just east of Paleochora (Paleohora) and indeed worth a visit if one is staying in Paleochora or in the village Anidri or in the neighburhood.
The Gorge of Agia Irini on the western side of the White Mountains is a 7,50 km long walk through unique beauty. It takes 3-3½ hour and you'll need another 45 min walk to the village of Sougia by the Libyan Sea.
Imbros Gorge has a unique beauty and is perfect for a family gorge walk. Easy to walk and only half the distance of the Samaria walk. About 4 km from Askifou plateau there is entrances to the gorge and it ends at Komitades a village close to the sea and not far from Sfakia.
The Gorge of Diktamou situated only about 20 km from Chania is the one of the few that does not have a north - south direction.
The Gorge of Aradena located close to Loutro and not far from Sfakia and the mountain village Anopoli.
